A text messaging utility that allows you to send messages from your PC to mobile phones all around the World.
Pros: The Global Text Messaging Software is a utility that allows you to send SMS messages to one or a group of mobile phones located anywhere around the World. Simply type the message, select the number(s) you want to send the message to and hit “Send”. Contacts from your mobile phone can easily ported into the software through standard Windows ActiveSync. Contacts can also be added manually or through a TXT file. There is no limit on the number of contacts that can be stored. And messages can be send to any number of mobile phones simultaneously. It can be used for all kinds of notification functions: including events, alerts, business messages, greetings etc. that you may want to send to a group of mobile phone users. This is especially useful for Team Leaders and Managers who want keep their teams up to date. It has Unicode support so multi-lingual messaging is possible in a number of Unicode supported languages. All messages that have been sent are recorded in a log file.
Cons: As with a lot of software with good intentions, the problem here is the interface. After installation the software actually called itself “Data Doctor” and this is a little jarring. The way that numbers are stored and presented is also less than ideal. The fact that the messaging window itself only tells you how many characters have been typed (and not how many characters are left before the next message begins, or how many messages in total have been typed) is a limitation. There are some issues when using the phone numbers. Make sure that you are in the right format before you attempt to send messages. As long as you are sending messages domestically, you’re fine. But once you try international problems can arise. There appears to be no “Save Draft” feature.
Overall: 3 stars. It works quite well. But the interface shows up with a different name and definitely needs improvement. There are also some issues with number formats etc. It seems a little overpriced for the utility it provides.
